Privacy Policy

Introduction

Nomscore ("we", "our", "us") operates the Nomscore mobile application. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

• Account info: Email (as shared via Sign in with Apple, which may be a private relay address), display name, Apple ID identifier, timezone
• Profile characteristics: Sex, age range, height, activity level, goal, and (optionally) whether you are breastfeeding — used to personalize your daily point budget. Provided during onboarding; editable in Settings.
• Food logs: Food descriptions, point values, timestamps, meal categories
• Body measurements: Weight check-ins (weight value + date) when you use the optional weight tracking feature. Stored in kilograms. You can hide the weight card from the Journey screen at any time in Settings, and individual check-ins are included in data exports and deleted when you delete your account.
• Voice data: Speech recognition is performed on your device. Only transcribed text is sent to our servers. Audio never leaves your device.
• Meal photos: When you log a meal by photo, the image is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) for one-time analysis to identify the food and calculate points. We do not store the photo — it is processed in transit only. Photo logging is camera-only; Nomscore does not request access to your photo library. Anthropic's data-handling policy applies to the in-flight processing.
• Meal-plan preferences: When you generate a weekly meal plan, your preferences (cooking frequency, effort level, preferred proteins/cuisines, dietary restrictions, dislikes free-text, and chosen meal slots) are sent to Anthropic to produce the plan. Some restrictions (e.g. vegetarian, gluten-free) may imply religious practice or a medical condition; we treat these inputs as sensitive. The generated plan is stored only on your device — we do not persist meal plans on our servers, and they are deleted when you sign out or delete your account.
• Social data: Group memberships, leaderboard rankings, feed posts
• Device data: Push notification token, app version

We do not collect device identifiers (IDFA), location, contacts, your photo library, or browsing history. Meal photos you take inside Nomscore are sent to our AI provider for one-time analysis only and are never persisted by us.

How We Use Your Data

• Food tracking and points calculation
• Personalized daily point budget based on your profile characteristics
• Weight trend tracking (displayed only to you; never shared with groups or third parties)
• AI-powered food recognition (text or meal photo sent to Anthropic Claude API)
• AI-generated weekly meal plans (your preferences are sent to Anthropic Claude API; plans are stored locally on your device only)
• Push notifications (optional)
• Social features (groups, leaderboards)

We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

Third-Party Services

• Anthropic Claude API: Food descriptions, meal photos (when you log by photo), and meal-plan preferences (when you generate a plan) are sent to Anthropic. Only what's needed for the request is shared, not your identity. Photos are processed in transit and not retained by Nomscore. Generated meal plans are stored locally on your device only. Data Storage & Security

Data is stored on Fly.io servers (US-East). All connections use TLS encryption. There are no Nomscore passwords — Sign in with Apple is the only authentication method, and we never receive your Apple ID password. Tokens are stored in iOS Keychain.

Your Rights

• Access: Export your data from Settings > Export My Data
• Delete: Delete your account from Settings > Delete Account. All data is permanently removed within 30 days.
• Portability: Export your data as JSON at any time
• Notifications: Control push notifications in Settings

Children's Privacy

Nomscore is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
